Heather Schrepel, at Ramapo Obedience Services has had a love for dogs since she was a little girl. She grew up with three Golden Retrievers and started her own pet sitting business, Outrageous Pet Care at only 10 years old. Her love for dogs and training only grew as she got older. At 18, she fell in love with the competitive dog show world, after attending her first AKC Dog Show with her Aunt Diana.
In 2008, Heather began to show her first Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, Mia. The team showed competitively in Conformation, Rally & Obedience. Mia received her Championship, Canine Good Citizen Advanced Title, Rally Advance Title, Companion Dog Title & Intermediate Trick Title.
Heather is also passionate about rescuing and rehabilitating dogs, in 2017 she rescued Ryder a Lab Collie mix, who is a Ramapo Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, Honorary Swissy. Ryder was abandoned at 10 months old to a NJ rescue organization, where Heather was a part of their fostering program. He came to Heather with no manners and no obedience training. Needless say the two after many challenges are now inseparable, Ryder was adopted just 2 months after his fostering started. He is a great example of how with time, patience and relationship building you are able to create an amazing well behaved dog and a great member of your family. Heather and Ryder are currently training for their Rally Excellent, Open Obedience and Agility titles. The team is also looking forward to training in Utility, Sheep Herding, Nose Work, and Fast CAT.
Heather has handled and championed many dogs since her show and training career began in the Conformation Ring and has had multiple AKC Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dog, Rally & Obedience Titles. Heather loves working alongside her Aunt Diana showing, breeding and training. Their love for dogs and the team they have built continues to grow and gets stronger. She looks forward to adding to their Ramapo Obedience Services & Ramapo Greater Swiss Mountain Dog family.
Today, Heather is certified as an AKC CGC, CGCA, CGCU, STAR puppy, Trick Dog evaluator. She looks forward to continuing to work with all breeds and helping people and their dogs live their best lives.
Heather is now located in Austin, TX.
